ABSTRACT
There is great concern for the mental and psychological well-being of the Nigerian populace. With Nigeria ranking as the most depressed country in the continent of Africa according to research carried out by Africa Check in 2018, it is pertinent that we find practical answers and solutions to the issue. This project tries to determine the breadth of the literature on the subject, synthesize recent studies, and identify research gaps. It aims to provide a platform where Nigerians are encouraged to speak up about their feelings and talk more about the things that go on in their heads. In order to ensure mental wellbeing and reduce suicide and depression rates among Nigerians, therapists of different genders, religions and socio-cultural backgrounds are readily available and offering a listening ear.
